3rd International Workshop on Mobile Internet User eXperience (MIUX'09)

THE WORKSHOP IS CANCELED DUE TO VERY FEW SUBMISSIONS


This workshop is held in conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Human Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services, MobileHCI 2009. The earlier MIUX workshops were held in Singapore 2007 and in Amsterdam 2008.

Call for papers

Deadline for position papers: April 27 May 11, 2009
Notification of acceptance: May 18 May 29, 2009
Early bird registration due: June 1, 2009
Workshop: September 15, 2009

Internet access on mobile devices changes the way the Internet is used. In addition to accessing ordinary Internet content with mobile devices, mobilizing the Internet enables totally new kinds of Internet content and services. This workshop will discuss the latest user study results and developments of mobile Internet from the end user perspective, identifying solutions that make Internet usage on a mobile device an enjoyable experience. Mobile Internet solutions cover Internet services specifically designed for mobile use, mobile access to full Web sites, full Web sites and mobile services complementing each other, Web feeds, Web widgets, and Internet based communication systems (e.g. email, instant messaging, VoIP).

The workshop topics include:

  • Users and usages for mobile Internet now and in the future
  • Experiences and success stories of mobile services
  • Innovative solutions to improve mobile internet user experience
  • How mobility is changing the Internet user experience
  • Emerging local and global trends in mobile Internet use

The workshop is targeted to researchers and practitioners working in the field of mobile Internet user experience. The participants are expected to submit a position paper of 2-4 pages by email to virpi.roto(at)nokia.com and eija.kaasinen(at)vtt.fi by April 27, 2009. Please use the SIGCHI publication format available at http://www.sigchi.org/chipubform/, and submit your paper in PDF format. At least one author of accepted papers needs to register for the workshop and for the conference itself.
